JR Automation has added over 75,000-square-feet to one of its existing facilities in Holland Township.
The expansion is adding on to the company’s Quality Drive location at 13521 Quality Dr., and it includes 75,000-square-feet of production space and over 8,500-square feet of additional office space.
“The expansion is complete and it will allow us to continue expanding our business,” said Joel Cooper, JR Automation's Director of Facilities. “We remain focused on developing world-class automated equipment for both new and legacy customers, and this expansion allows us to do even more. Finally, we are going to keep hiring more people. West Michigan has an amazing talent base and we want to bring the best and brightest to JR Automation for exciting, long-term careers.”
In total, the expansion will be an investment of more than $5.5 million in land and building improvements, and Holland Charter Township has approved a 12-year tax abatement to support the growth. Being that it is an Industrial Facilities Tax, the company will pay half the tax they would normally pay for the term of the tax abatement on the expansion.
“The tax abatement means that we are able to continue deepening our roots in West Michigan through this expansion,” said Lizzie Uhl, Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager at JR Automation. “Since 1980, JR Automation has operated in Holland, and we are committed to investing in our communities. Growing our business means that we can continue to serve our global customer base, create more jobs and hire skilled workers, and give back to the communities where we live and work.”
JR Automation has been working with Lakeshore Advantage throughout the process, and according to Emily Staley, Director of Marketing and Communications at Lakeshore Advantage, the new expansion will create 16 new jobs, complementing the company’s more than 150 employees working in the original building.
“JR Automation’s tremendous growth is rocketing them toward a spot among our region’s largest employers,” said Jennifer Owens, President of Lakeshore Advantage. “We appreciate the opportunity to come alongside their team to support their growth in our region, with the highly-skilled, technical career opportunities in engineering and automation they offer.”
