We are pleased to announce that we intend to expand operations in Stevensville, MI; investing $1.9 million in a 25,000 sq. ft. expansion to our existing facility and creating 60 new jobs locally over the course of the next three years.
Cornerstone Alliance, an economic development organization located in Berrien County, MI, worked closely with JR's leadership team by providing technical assistance and site development options that allowed us to successfully maneuver the obstacles for expansion. With support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Kinexus, the Cornerstone Alliance team compiled a compelling business case that will assist in the successful expansion of our production facility in Stevensville.
“Southwest Michigan and the talented people who choose to work at JR are huge contributors to our continued success and expansion. Having the supporting structure of Cornerstone Alliance, the MEDC, and Kinexus allows JR to focus on our operational business growth,” said Bryan Jones, CEO. “Southwest Michigan is a great place to live and raise a family and we are excited to be offering new job opportunities to the talented workforce here.”
At their meeting on March 14th, 2017, Lincoln Charter Township Trustees approved a tax abatement for the 25,000 sq. ft. expansion to our existing Stevensville facility, which will allow us to accommodate increased production driven by increase customer activity. We plan to begin construction in April 2017 and hope to be completed by December 2017.
“JR Automation is a growing company, with sites across the country, and we are grateful they’ve chosen to invest and create high-paying, high-skilled jobs in Berrien County,” said Rob Cleveland, President of Cornerstone Alliance. “As a long-time member of the Michigan family, JR Automation understands the positive business climate and advantages of doing business in the State of Michigan. Their belief in the ability to find skilled labor in Southwest Michigan is evident in their decision to grow in Berrien County.”
According to Cleveland, the expansion efforts of JR Automation Technologies were the result of a collaborative effort among economic development partners. “JR Automation’s growth in Michigan’s Great Southwest would not have happened without the diligence and support from Lincoln Charter Township and Berrien County Drain Commissioner, Chris Quattrain. Cornerstone Alliance is grateful for the great work they did to make this expansion a reality,” said Cleveland.
